What is the Maintenance Logbook?
The maintenance logbook is a document that records your building's:
- Construction history and technical specifications
- Maintenance activities performed over time
- Planned works and upcoming repairs
- Building systems documentation (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.)
Who Can Prepare It?
The logbook must be prepared by an independent professional from one of these orders:
- OIQ - Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec
- OEAQ - Ordre des évaluateurs agréés du Québec
- OAQ - Ordre des architectes du Québec
- OTPQ - Ordre des technologues professionnels du Québec
The professional must be independent of the syndicate, meaning they cannot be a co-owner or have any conflict of interest.
Key Requirements
- Must be updated yearly by the board of directors
- Must be reviewed every 5 years by a qualified professional
- For qualifying small buildings: review every 10 years
- If a logbook was prepared between August 14, 2023 and August 14, 2025, it is considered valid
