What it means for your syndicate

This obligation falls on the co-owner personally; it is distinct from the insurance on the immovable that the syndicate must carry (art. 1073 CCQ). The two policies complement each other.

This regime comes from Bill 141 (2018): it should not be confused with the syndicate's insurance or with the self-insurance fund (art. 1071.1 CCQ).

CondoAide can keep in the register the proofs of insurance co-owners provide, helping the board track who has supplied theirs. The choice and extent of coverage rest with the co-owner and their insurer.
